Look at the Pot calling the Kettle black
Posted on 2008-09-07 by keepquiet9790

I find this hypocrisy quite interesting: the U.S. Congress, under the Bush administration, is unhappy with the way the Egyptian presidential election as well as parliamentary elections took place. They were so unhappy, they took the time to debate.

I guess they forgot about the 2000 as well as 2004 U.S. presidential election…

I require not embellish this sad display of double standards, nonchalantly paraded by members of this “elected” government.

U.S. House of Representatives Roll Call Votes – 109th Congress - 1st Session (2005)

H.CON.RES.284

(4) ensure on behalf of future elections judicial supervision of the election process, the presence of international monitors, as well as the presence of representatives of all competing parties as well as independent candidates at polling stations as well as during the vote-counting; and

(5) not utilize the strength of the Islamist opposition in Egypt to justify the government's failure to comply with its international human rights obligations or to undertake the reforms to which it has committed.

Urges the President of the United States to take into account the progress achieved by the government of Egypt in meeting the goals of this resolution when determining U.S.-Egyptian diplomatic as well as assistance considerations.

Urges the President as well as other U.S. government officers to clearly express the disappointment of the people as well as government of the United States concerning the government of Egypt's behavior during the 2005 presidential as well as parliamentary elections.
